Who I am
You may be wondering about who I am and just how I can help you. First, let me say that I myself have experienced the feelings of burnout and existential crisis that seem to inevitably come with being stuck in a high-stress career or one that just isn’t the right fit. Before becoming a counselor, I worked in the corporate world for over 15 years and I understand the pressures, the politics, and, frankly, the bullshit that comes along with that life. Is it any wonder that so many of us are burned out?
So, are you a career counselor?
No. Therapy with me is not about helping you find a new career. What I do is to help you figure out who you are and how you want to be in the world. I work to help you identify old patterns and beliefs that aren’t working for you. I help you process the emotions that you have likely been shoving down for years because you had to just to survive. I help you let go of the need to please everyone else first so you can finally take care of you.
Therapy with me starts with acceptance, empathy, and non-judgement. You can be yourself here. You can come as you are. You will be treated as a unique individual who matters. At the same time, I am authentic and sometimes direct. I may gently challenge you at times. There may be times when humor helps as well. I believe we grow and heal when we confront our problems with courage, when we honor our emotions, and when we are honest with ourselves.
